Obituary for James Stewart Robertson

Robertson, James Stewart B.A., LL.B.

Of Brighton, passed away peacefully at Belleville General Hospital on July 20, 2019 in his 83rd year. Born in London, Ontario, son of the late Catherine and Gordon Robertson. Beloved partner of 33 years to Joyce Frost (nee Anderson). Loving father of Jennifer Robertson (Pat), Martha McLean (Paul), and Struan Robertson (Danielle). Dear grandfather to James and Sarah McLean, Martin and Catherine Robertson. Stew will be dearly missed by Joyce’s family Stephen Frost (his daughter Danna Hull, her spouse Mike and children Britton and Clara) and Nancy Graham (Rob and sons Tyler and Josh). Survived by sisters Anne Boyle, Beth MacKinnon, predeceased by sister Mary Mulhall. Uncle Stew to the Boyle, Mulhall and Clarke children. Raised in Belleville, Stew was a graduate of Queen’s University and Osgoode Hall Law School. He was a Barrister and Solicitor beginning practice in Thunder Bay and Geraldton, Ontario, before returning to Belleville, eventually moving his full practice to Trenton where he practiced with Joyce at his side until his retirement in 2014. A Celebration of Stew’s Life will be held from 4-7 pm August 23rd, 2019, at Trent Port Marina, 15 Creswell Drive, Trenton, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made in Stew’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation. The family wishes to thank the staff of the QHC Belleville General Hospital’s Stroke and Rehabilitation Floor and the Palliative Care Team for their kind and compassionate care provided for Stew.
