Obituary for Charles William Reddom

REDDOM, Charles William “Charlie” - at the Maplewood Long Term Care Facility, Brighton, on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, age 80 years.  Charlie Reddom of Brighton, son of the late William Reddom and the late Marie (Huff).  Beloved husband of the late Shirley Jean (Guy).  Loving father of Patricia Reddom (Milton Mazurek) of Lakeport, and Charlie Reddom Jr. (Wendy) of Bewdley.  Predeceased by his son Adam.  Dear brother of Edith Simpson of Ottawa.  Sadly missed by his grandchildren, Terri, Christina, Scott, and his great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.  Charlie was born and raised on Union Road in Brighton. He was proud of both his Reddom and Huff side and he decided his place was to live with his beloved Huff grandparents. Charlie had a passion for mechanical repairs and a hobby of fixing his co-workers vehicles at night after his farming chores finished and eight hours of work at Westinghouse. This led to a full time career of small engine repair at his own shop CW Enterprises. It is at this shop where he employed John Chapins for over 20 years. John was not only an employee, he was family too. Along with mechanics, Charlie was a farmer, spectator at his children's sporting events – especially at Adams soccer games, he was his biggest fan! Charlie loved his farm animals and pets and always had at least one dog by his side at all times. Along with all these fabulous characteristics, he was a wonderful father and kind and genuine friend to many. A Celebration of Charlie’s Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 100, 25 Park Street, Brighton, on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 1 to 4 p.m.  Cremation with Interment at Woods Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Brighton Food Bank would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements in care of the Brighton Funeral Home, (613-475-2121).  www.rushnellfamilyservices.com
